meet Michael Shea
Craniosacral Therapist
Michael is the owner, along with his wife Cathy, of Shea Educational Group, Inc. He teaches basic and advanced biodynamic programs internationally. He was the first Full Instructor of Craniosacral Therapy at the Upledger Institute in 1986 and formerly a Certified Advanced Rolfer and assistant Rolfing Instructor between 1979-2006. He specializes now in teaching manual therapists how to reduce metabolic disorders by applying Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy to the cardiovascular system.
Michael had a pediatric practice for forty years specializing in treating infants and children with moderate to severe developmental delays. He developed touch protocols for infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) and meditation practices for parents with children in NICU. All his teaching is grounded in contemplative neuroscience and developing a clear perception of a peaceful mind. He was a military officer during the Vietnam Era and has a 100% service-related PTSD Disability from being on a killing field while on active duty in the U.S. Army.
He was adjunct faculty at the former Santa Barbara Graduate Institute (SBGI) between 2002-2011. He was the Instructor of Human Embryology introducing students to their embryo in the Somatic Psychology and Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology doctoral programs. He was on several doctoral committees especially one exploring Artificial Reproduction Technologies (ART) for Women with PTSD. His first love academically is human embryology and is committed to helping everyone find their embryo.
