meet Ludwig Janus
lecturer and psychoanalysis instructor
Ludwig Janus, M.D. is a lecturer and psychoanalysis instructor at the Psychoanalytic Training Institute in Heidelberg, Germany. He is past-president of the International Society for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Medicine (ISPPM), the past-president of the German Society for Psychohistory and Political Psychology (GPPP) and current co-editor of the International Journal of Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology.
In his psychoanalytical practice, Ludwig repeatedly observed that prenatal and birth-related stresses can have long-term effects and that the success of the treatment can depend to a large extent on working through these connections. He then discovered that there is a rich scientific tradition in psychoanalysis in this regard, which he has written about in his various publications among which The Enduring Effects of Prenatal Experience: Echoes from the Womb.
