Healing One Cell at a Time - Womb Continuum Workshop

Frank Carbone’s Womb Continuum is a therapeutic approach that integrates principles from Continuum Movement and prenatal and perinatal psychology to facilitate deep somatic healing and reconnection with one’s original blueprint of being. It emphasises the body’s fluid intelligence and innate restorative capacities.

Following a deep self-healing process, Frank developed the concept of ‘Cellness’ which begins with the idea that our earliest organisation is cellular and sensory, before we have language, narrative, or even a developed sense of self. A cell doesn’t “remember” in the autobiographical sense, but the developing organism is continuously shaped by experience—rhythm, pressure, movement, chemistry, sound, contact, and relationship.

In that sense, implicit memory is not primarily the memory of what happened; it is the memory expressed through how the organism learned to be. Early experience can become reflected in patterns of activation and settling, contraction and expansion, approach and withdrawal, breathing, muscular tone, expectation, and relationship.

Movement, breath, and sound are ways of entering into conversation with these deeply embodied patterns without requiring a story about them. Continuum provides the language of sensation, movement, breath, and sound; Womb Surround adds a relational and pre-/perinatal frame in which very early patterns can be explored.

In this workshop, Frank will guide us through Womb Continuum practices from the perspective of of his ‘Cellness’ approach.
