Twin Loss – Healing the Silent Grief of Womb Twin Survival

With Nir Esterman
Sunday, 6 December 2026 at 14h-17h30 UK time
It is estimated that at least 10 – 15% of pregnancies start out with two (or more) embryos but only one of them completes gestation. Since the loss of a twin can occur before the first ultrasound, parents and doctors might never consciously know that this happened. The surviving child, who suffered the loss of a twin in the womb, did so alone and may have no conscious memory of it later in life.

Many surviving twins experience a strange sense of loneliness or a deep, persistent guilt for simply existing. They may feel an inexplicable pull toward saving others, overgiving or choosing emotionally unavailable partners, subconsciously replaying the loss dynamic. These patterns are embodied echoes of a bond that was never completed.

Family constellations open a field in which a lost twin can be lovingly recognised and given their place in the family system. The surviving twin can then reclaim agency, establish healthier boundaries, and make life choices from a place of wholeness rather than unconscious grief.

In this workshop, Nir Esterman will guide us through individual exercises and group constellations to help us explore lost twin dynamics.

constellation work

Systemic or Constellation Work is based on the Family Constellation approach developed by Bert Hellinger. It is a method for revealing and healing the relationship dynamics within any kind of personal, family or group system.

During a constellation, we hold space for ourselves and the other participants. Together, we connect and bring to life what was in a way that supports what can be. Constellations offer a deep, often transformative healing movement of reconciliation that takes us closer to our potential for a vital and present life.

What comes up in a constellation is based on the imprints that are left of what happened to us and to previous generations in our family system. During the constellation process, we learn to acknowledge the perspectives of all involved and add resources where needed so that integration and closure become possible.
