Pre- and Perinatal Scope of Practice

Within the pre- and perinatal field, practitioners of many disciplines share a set of powerful, and sometimes controversial, ideas about how early experience shapes a life.

This series of four classes invites us to hold those ideas with both openness and discernment. Rather than asking whether pre- and perinatal concepts are simply "true" or "false," we will explore how to work with them responsibly within our own scope of practice.

From the One to the Many: Drawing Universal Conclusions

Insights gained from one or a few pertinent cases can have a profound impact on our practice and model of treatment. Maybe a single client or a single session, and suddenly we can see “it” everywhere, in almost every client who walks through the door, for months.

In this second session in our series on ‘Pre- and Perinatal Scope of Practice’, we will consider what gives a single case its evidential weight while exploring how we can catch ourselves mid-generalisation, before one or two striking cases quietly become a rule we apply to everyone.

During four sessions, we will learn about the process of transformation through conversations, practical applications, and embodied experiences. As we deepen into our capacity to “sense” we become more in touch with the Essential Body, as who we really are.

Session 2: As we open and experience the potential for growth, what often arises with the opening is resistance. An exercise with repeated questions allow us to explore and welcome the nature of resistance and its role in the process of providing the grit that allows the growth of presence.
