Future Gateways and the Penetrating Vessel

with Suzanne Yates
Thursday, 4 December 2025 at 19h UK time
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the ‘Penetrating Vessel’, one of the ‘extraordinary’ meridians, is deeply connected to gestation and birth. As the ‘Sea of Blood’ it provides the fetus with the nourishment it requires as it grows.

The Penetrating Vessel develops during pregnancy through the mother/baby relationship and is deepened or modified during birth and early postpartum. The imprints we carry from our birth in this regard, influence our capacity to nourish ourselves and others.

In this class, Suzanne Yates will explain what the Penetrating, aka ‘Nourishing’ Vessel, is and how it can help support our capacity to self-nourish and nourish others at any stage of life. A guided movement and visualisation practice will give us an idea of how to work with the Penetrating Vessel.

In this class John Wilks explores the history and uses of suction, vacuum extraction and ventouse and examines the implications for postnatal treatment approaches for both mum and baby.

John has been practising the Bowen Technique and Craniosacral Therapy full time since 1995. He is the author of four books on complementary therapies and developed a specialised Craniosacral training course for midwives which was the first of its kind to be accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.
