Artificial Oxytocin – Rationale and Impact

Naturally, the human system is wired to initiate and complete birth without drugs. Yet, in many countries around the world and under various circumstances, it is considered necessary to induce childbirth with a synthetic form of oxytocin.
Birthing women are not systematically advised, though, what the consequences and implications of the use of artificial oxytocin can be, for both themselves as well as the baby.

In this class, Karlton shows the background of the use of Pitocin  (a form of artificial oxytocin) in the context of birth induction. You will learn what impact such a birthing experience can have on an individual but also collective level.
