The philosopher and psychotherapist Eugene Gendlin discovered that the body holds implicit or pre-verbal knowing of any kind of life situation, personal or professional. He called this clear but unarticulated feeling held in the body the ‘felt sense’.

Gendlin developed Focusing as an embodied practice that helps us listen to our felt sense with curiosity, compassion, and clarity. In a space of receptive attention a word, image, or small gesture may arise that captures the quality of what is felt, and the body responds to this conscious recognition.

The ability to access information beyond logical thinking is a valuable tool for both our own self-reflection and in interaction with clients, as it allows us to be with and hold space for what arises.

In this three part course, Deirdre Kennedy will introduce us to Focusing through presentations and guided practices. You will learn how to pause, sense, and relate to your inner experience in a way that supports grounded presence - both in your personal life and in your work with others.
Deirdre Kennedy is a Relational Craniosacral Therapist dedicated to helping people navigate and find solutions to their life’s challenges through an empowering trauma-informed perspective. She supports families, groups, and businesses internationally.

In this course, Deirdre will introduce you to:

  • the core principles of Focusing
  • practical guided experiences
  • how to stay present with others with greater ease
  • a deeper connection to your body and inner signals
  • a method of trauma informed self enquiry
