Introduction to Integrative Baby Therapy
module one
Embodied Presence
One of the fundamental principles of Integrative Baby Therapy is we need to be present to what is happening in the moment, rather than impose preconceived reatment protocols. We can only be truly present when we are fully embodied. We will look at and experience a way of orienting to what is happening in the body that both grounds the therapist and opens up the relational
space between therapist and client.
space between therapist and client.
module two
Potential Space
Giving space for the voices of parents and babies to share their experience, whilst tracking shifts in the embodied states of everyone in the therapy room, enables us to access underlying states of clarity and intelligence, which may otherwise be obscured by premature interventions. Learning to tolerate states of 'not-knowing' and work patiently at the pace of nature, is a skill that we can develop and learn to trust. This creates a potent field in which hidden potential has time to emerge and clarify, with solutions revealing themselves, rather than being imposed.
module three
Feeling Felt as Medicine
Feeling felt is more than being heard. It is the embodied experience of emotional resonance. When we feel someone is in emotional response with our experience, we feel less alone. This is especially true for babies and their parents in times of distress. By accurately tracking the body language and emotional expressions of babies, we can deepen our capacity for coming into
emotional resonance and relieving babies, children and parents of the burden of aloneness. This, in itself, can be a profound medicine for body and soul.
