Katharine Graves is the leading authority on hypnobirthing in the United Kingdom and author of the international bestseller The Hypnobirthing Book. Hypnobirthing is a childbirth preparation method that works with the body's natural physiology in order to allow birth to unfold more calmly and efficiently.

In this class, Katharine will draw on decades of teaching and research to show how hypnobirthing can lead to fewer interventions, shorter labours, more effective use of the body's natural pain-relieving endorphins, and stronger postnatal bonding and attachment.

She will also address some of the points of criticism around hypnobirthing, such as anti-intervention stigma, plan B deficiency, toxic positivity or the belief that hypnobirthing encourages dissociative hypnotic states.

In this class John Wilks explores the history and uses of suction, vacuum extraction and ventouse and examines the implications for postnatal treatment approaches for both mum and baby.

John has been practising the Bowen Technique and Craniosacral Therapy full time since 1995. He is the author of four books on complementary therapies and developed a specialised Craniosacral training course for midwives which was the first of its kind to be accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.
