Treating Babies’ Necks

with John Wilks
Babies can have all kinds of issues relating to the neck. These might start in the womb (for example if the baby is in a posterior position) and can be exacerbated by the birth process, whether or not interventions are used.

In this presentation, John looks at some of the situations that impact babies’ necks, and some of the structures that lie within the neck (such as the vagus nerves and the hyoid) which are impacted, particularly through natural compressive, rotational and dragging forces.  He will also examine what happens when the neck is exposed to tractional forces (such as in c-sections, ventouse, forceps etc.), what other structures might be involved and how we can work with this therapeutically.
