advanced Baby body language

Each baby has his or her own prenatal and birth story and they show us their implicit memories of intrauterine life and their birth in gestures that are generally seen as normal baby behaviour rather than specific messages. The baby’s psyche is begging for us to see what the baby is trying to express so that they can get some understanding and healing of what happened to them. They express milestones or important moments of their journey from conception to birth through their bodies.

Any practitioner or parent can learn how to recognize baby body language and, for the practitioner, initiate more accurate and deeper healing protocols. For parents, informed compassion helps them to naturally and instinctively give their baby, who is special and different from all other babies, just what is needed.

In this course, Karlton Terry explains the different subtle expressions babies use to communicate their story, body movements, small gestures, vocal sounds. You will learn about their meaning and how to hold space for the baby with empathy and compassion. Being listened to contributes in and of itself to a process of healing from pre- and perinatal trauma.
Karlton Terry is one of the most internationally recognized educators and experienced therapists in pre- and perinatal psychology. His work with babies, children and adults pursues the goal of enabling a neurological reconnection in the brain through renewed positive physical experience of a traumatic situation, so that this experience can be freed from its traumatic elements.

Prenatal Baby Body Language

In this training class, Karlton Terry elaborates on prenatal baby body language. What the infant shows relative to its time in utero is very different in terms of cause and expression from what they tell us about their birth. It usually involves more movement, and fewer feelings of overall physical ‘stuckness’. Prenatal baby body language is very nuanced, but if we 'catch the wave,' we find ourselves facilitating what is being asked for - to the delight of the baby.

umbilical affect baby body language

In this class Karlton describes some classic Baby Body Language in response to umbilical issues and will explore how to recognize MUMMS (Metaphoric Umbilical Mouth Movements) and utilize their value as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool. He will help to identify the differences between prenatal umbilical affect and the effects of cord cutting.
