Aware Parenting Principles for Working with Babies and Children

Aware Parenting is an attachment-based, trauma-informed parenting approach developed by Aletha Solter. The overarching principle lies in the acknowledgement that there are no bad feelings or bad behaviour but that babies and children experience regular stress and do carry trauma.

In this class, Craniosacral therapist Sara Devoy will show how she uses Aware Parenting principles in her practice. We will learn why this approach is useful for working with babies and children, what the main principles are and what their practical application looks like, illustrated by case studies.

In this class John Wilks explores the history and uses of suction, vacuum extraction and ventouse and examines the implications for postnatal treatment approaches for both mum and baby.

John has been practising the Bowen Technique and Craniosacral Therapy full time since 1995. He is the author of four books on complementary therapies and developed a specialised Craniosacral training course for midwives which was the first of its kind to be accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.
