Early impressions last a life time unless they are addressed. Infant overwhelm due to adverse perinatal experiences creates protective response habits and attachment issues as the nervous system assesses for comfort and safety, and makes meaning of events. Beliefs from perinatal times encode as double binds, which is what drives difficult behaviour in a child or adult. But can disruptive early attachment events be repaired and healed? And if so, how?

In this three part course, therapist, teacher and author Annie Brook, shows how unwrapping shock patterns allows natural life force to flow through, enabling us to create healthy connections with oxytocin states of aliveness and safety. We  will learn about possible attachment dynamics, how they play out in human relationships and how attachment wounds can be healed in order to enable healthy self-attachment and a good connection to others.

The last course module is dedicated to adoption dynamics. This imprint may come with not just fear of being both loved and given away but also a set of  “bad baby” beliefs. Annie explains how ‘spatial shock’ can be repaired and feelings of being unsafe in the surrounding space be overcome.
Annie Brook is a Body-Mind Centering teacher, therapist and author who has been working with individuals and families for over 40 years. Annie understands families, development and health, and has learned to help those in the most difficult situations, such as abused foster children, adopted children and their families and gang youth.

In this course, Annie provides theoretical background, case studies and short practices covering:

  • earliest foundations of attachment
  • human relationship dynamics
  • adoption and attachment
  • how to unwrap shock patterns
  • how to heal attachment wounds
  • how to develop healthy self-attachment

module one

How We Are Born Echoes Through Our Life

Early impressions last a life time unless they are addressed. Infant overwhelm due to experiences such as C-section or other obstetrical interventions, prematurity, overly long labour,  postnatal depression of the mother, infant surgeries etc. create protective response habits and attachment issues.

This module looks into the profound impact of early impressions and precognitive memories on the nervous system and behavior, emphasising the importance of addressing these foundational experiences for personal healing and growth. Through therapeutic techniques, individuals can access and process these early memories to foster healing, integration, and a stronger connection between mind and body.

Module two

Attachment Dynamics

This module explores the complexities of attachment theory, focusing on how early experiences shape adult behaviours and relationships. It delves into various attachment styles—anxious, ambivalent, avoidant, and controlling—and offers practical insights for therapists working with clients to address attachment-related issues.

Annie emphasises the importance of self-awareness and self-care in managing attachment dynamics, both for individuals and professionals in the field.

module three

Adoption Challenges

The imprint from having been given up for adoption can follow an individual around like a shadow. Even if a child was adopted as early as at birth, they will hold the fear of being abandoned, as this imprint is stored in their brain. Especially if a child has experienced pre-adoption adversity, their ability to securely bond can be challenged to various degrees.

In this final course module, you will learn about the adoption imprint which may come with not just fear of being both loved and given away but also a set of  “bad baby” beliefs. Annie explains how ‘spatial shock’ can be repaired and feelings of being unsafe in the surrounding space be overcome.
