How to treat Pitocin trauma

with Karlton Terry
Today, an average of 30% of pregnant women undergo induction of labour (IOL) in developed countries with an increasing tendency worldwide. The administration of artificial oxytocin (Pitocin, Syntocinon, Viatocinon or other names) generally follows when methods like sweeping or applying prostaglandine gels in order to trigger labour have not had the desired effect.

While deemed medically necessary under various circumstances, triggering labour artificially can have an impact on both mum and baby beyond the possible side effects of the medication.
This class follows on from “Impact and Rationale of Artificial Oxytocin” where we learnt about the background of Pitocin in the context of birth induction and the impact such a birthing experience can have on an individual but also a collective level.

This time, Karlton will show how to work with children, babies (or adults) who were born with the help of artificial oxytocin.
