meet Clara Cunningham
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist and teacher | Pre- and Perinatal Somatic Educator/facilitatorCo-Director, The Human Development Center
Clara Cunningham is a biodynamic craniosacral therapist and educator with over twenty years of experience, specializing in work with prenates, newborns, infants, and families. She is the founder of The Human Development Center in Bellingham, Washington, where she offers clinical care and professional training rooted in developmental and relational health.
Her work integrates Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, embryology, attachment theory, and pre- and perinatal somatic psychology. Clara has apprenticed for over two decades with senior teachers including Judyth Weaver and Myrna Martin, and assists in pre- and perinatal trainings across North America. Clara began studying craniosacral therapy while working as a caregiver for children living with disabilities and those in hospice care. That early experience profoundly shaped her understanding of presence, regulation, and the inherent wholeness that remains even in the face of complexity. Since then, her clinical work has centered on prenates, newborns, infants, children, and families — integrating biodynamic craniosacral therapy, somatic process work, attachment and bonding support, birth education, and holistic resiliency.
Growing up in Alaska shaped her deep respect for the intelligence of nature — a perspective that informs her biodynamic approach to infant work. Her teaching emphasizes relational presence, regulation, midline development, birth imprint resolution, and honoring babies as the conscious, communicative beings that they are.
Clara maintains a thriving clinical practice and is devoted to supporting practitioners worldwide in cultivating skill, sensitivity, and trust in the forces of health that are constantly shaping us.
