Environmental Impacts During Pregnancy

With John Wilks

How we can support a baby’s development and avoid the risks of environmental toxicity?
Mothers and babies are exposed to an array of environmental toxins that were not around 100 years ago. Some of these influences include:

  • antidepressants used during pregnancy or other pharmacological drugs
  • plastics
  • household chemicals
  • ultrasounds
  • antibiotics
  • herbicides and Pesticides
  • tap water
  • synthetic oxytocin
  • pain relief during labour

In this presentation, John Wilks, author of 'Choices in Pregnancy and Childbirth', examines the potential impact on health and development and what this means for the future health of our unborn children. He also offers some simple guidelines we can give to mums to lessen the potential risk to their developing baby.
